INTERVIEW WITH DAISYA ODEN
PIANIST, Student of Miss Alle Schwartz
SSOM: How old are you?
DAISYA: I am 16, almost 17.
SSOM: Where do you go to school?
DAISYA: CAHS (Columbus Alternative High School)
SSOM: When did you start playing?
DAISYA: 8th grade – about 3 years ago.
SSOM: What do you like most about playing?
DAISYA: It's fun, and it makes me feel good.
SSOM: What's your favorite stuff to play?
DAISYA: Debussey, soft pretty stuff.
SSOM: What are your musical goals?
DAISYA: Just to be the best I can be.
SSOM: What are your life goals?
DAISYA: To get into a good university, become an orthodontist and make lots of money.
SSOM: Other than music, do you have any hobbies?
DAISYA: Hanging out with my friends, listening to music (that's not classical or piano related).
SSOM: What kind of music do you like?
DAISYA: Rap, Pop, R&B – I like Drake.
SSOM: You're currently serving as our intern, what made you decide to want to do that?
DAISYA: I really like music and the environment here, I appreciate the work that you do here.
SSOM: You went to piano summer camp at Otterbein – what can you share about that?
DAISYA: It was a step out of my comfort zone, it was a challenge. I met some nice people. There's a performance class, that was hard for me. There was lots of time to practice and one-on-one lessons, there was improv class, and many other opportunities for learning there.
I hope to master Chopin's Revolutionary Etude someday. I've mastered Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor recently, I have done some of Chopin's preludes, but there's a lot more for me to learn!
